What does the 36-guṇa score mean?

It is the sum of eight classical kūṭa factors comparing the two partners' Moons. Tradition treats higher as more harmonious, but the score is a heuristic — classical practice always reads it alongside the full charts.

What if Nāḍī or Bhakūṭa is zero?

These carry the most weight and classical practice examines a zero closely — but both have well-known parihāra (exception) rules that depend on the full charts, which is exactly where a qualified astrologer, not a calculator, must judge.

Why nakṣatra and pada rather than names?

Name-based matching is a modern shortcut with no classical basis. The guṇa-milan is defined on the Moon's nakṣatra and sign — the pada pins the sign exactly, so this page computes the real thing.
